Educators working in art, media arts, music, dance, physical education, and theatre are encouraged to apply. Participants learn valuable teaching skills and acquire the confidence needed to increase the visibility and credibility of arts programs in their schools, districts, or organizations. Additionally, they develop their own artistic skills, collaborate, and share effective practices with other educators from across the region.
This experience begins with a dynamic five-day summer session. The 2019 summer intensive will take place from July 22–26 at TransformED in Homestead and Community Forge in Wilkinsburg. Four additional professional learning days—September 25 and November 21, 2019, and March 10 and June 17, 2020—and multiple one-hour online sessions will continue your learning throughout the school year.
The registration fee to participate is $300. This includes breakfast, lunch, and parking during all in-person sessions. The registration fee is due upon acceptance. All other fees and associated costs are covered in full by a scholarship that each participant receives. Districts will be reimbursed up to $100 per day for substitutes to allow educators to attend the seminars during the school year.
