Jamie is a heavy metal fan, avid reader, hiker, gardener, and creative technology enthusiast. In addition to keeping up on the latest tech trends, she is a founder and active member of the Arts & Technology Network within the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE), sits on the Arts Education Partnership’s national advisory council, and serves on the boards of the West Hills Symphonic Band and Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area. An active musician, Jamie holds the principal flute chair with the West Hills Symphonic Band and plays in various venues around Pittsburgh.
Jamie began her 18-year professional career as a music teacher in Prince George’s County Public Schools (MD), Fairfax County Public Schools (VA), and Bermudian Springs School District (PA). She moved from the classroom in 2007 to become the Fine Arts and Humanities Advisor at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and then became the associate director of AEC in 2010. Jamie became AEC’s director of programs in December 2018. She lives in Beaver County with her husband Josh, three cats, and three goldfish.
