Community of Learners for Arts Education

The Arts Education Collaborative is now accepting applications for cohort 2 of the Community of Learners for Arts Education, a program for school and district administrators.

Participants from cohort 1 said:

"I would recommend this program highly to those who want to inspire change guided by research and educated decision-making."

"The discussion was meaningful, thought-provoking, and helped take my learning to the next level. Time to read current research was very helpful."

Participants will receive 35 Act 45/PIL hours upon successful completion of the program. During the course of the program, they will explore three big ideas:

  1. Quality arts education benefits students both in and out of school.
  2. There are characteristics that all quality arts education programs share.
  3. Schools and school districts have the ability to support quality arts education for all students.

Participant Requirements:

  • Attend four in-person days (see below for the schedule). These days will be held at various locations in the Pittsburgh metro area. Some examples of past venues are Carnegie Museum of Art and Pittsburgh Opera.
  • Complete five hours of blogging and other work online.
  • Complete eight hours of job-embedded work, which includes the implementation of the action plan.

To maximize impact, we strongly encourage two or more administrators from one school or district to attend the program together.
